Briefs: Former ASIC boss joins AFG, new Genworth CFO

 New AFG director, Greg Medcraft

  • Former ASIC chair Greg Medcraft has joined the board of Australian Finance Group as an independent non-executive director. Medcraft has recently returned to Australia after four years as director of the Directorate of Financial and Enterprise Affairs at the OECD. Before leading ASIC, he spent 25 years with Société Générale, where he worked in corporate finance, capital markets, project finance and funds management before becoming managing director and global head of securitisation.

 

  • Genworth Mortgage Insurance Australia has appointed former banker Michael Cant as its new chief financial officer. Cant replaces Michael Bencsik, who is leaving later this month after two years at the lenders mortgage insurer. Cant had a long career at Commonwealth Bank, where he was head of retail banking product function, head of corporate banking, chief financial officer of the wealth management and insurance division, and general manager of distribution for Colonial First State.
