Banking Day staff
  • ANZ staff who were secretly providing ASIC with information during a 2014 investigation into alleged market manipulation at the bank were exposed by invoices from law firm HWL Ebsworth. The ABC reports that HWL Ebsworth represented 19 employees who were unaware the law firm was revealing how much time they were spending with ASIC via invoices for their time sent to ANZ’s lawyers, Clayton Utz. The invoices have been tendered as part of a Supreme Court action taken by a former employee who his trying to force HWL Ebsworth to release his file notes, and argues the law firm should have been more careful to anonymise the information provided to his employer via the invoicing.
