Prospa rushed by SME borrowers

28 April 2022 6:15AM

ASX-listed small business lender Prospa Group Limited has reported originations of A$172 million for the quarter ended 31 March 2022. This was an increase of 42 per cent on the prior corresponding period, the company noted in an unaudited 3Q22 trading update.

New small business loans represented 81 per cent ($140 million) of the quarter’s originations, with the remaining 19 per cent ($32 million) of Prospa's 3Q22 originations attributable to its line of credit products.

Prospa claimed to have added about 900 "total active customers" since December 2021, taking its total past 14,000, which in part drove its operations to book record quarterly revenue of $45.9 million, up 60.9 per cent on the pcp.

Across the Tasman, Prospa's New Zealand business wrote new SME loans in 3Q22 that totalled $32.7 million, up 64 on the pcp, pushing the group's NZ loan book over the NZ$100 million mark. The group also launched a line of credit product to existing New Zealand customers, with a full market launch planned for 4Q22.

In the same update Prospa disclosed that, as at 31 March 2022, it had $680 million in "available third-party facilities", including $158.6 million in available undrawn facilities, and $94.5 million of cash.
