Briefs: Kiwi cash rush, Pioneer appointment

26 May 2020 5:30AM
One month’s worth of withdrawals “occurred in just three days last week,” in New Zealand, independent ATM network, Next Payments, said. More than 30,000 withdrawal transactions were made in the three days after venues were partially reopened in New Zealand. In excess of 60,000 withdrawals have been made already in May, more than double to the total for April 2020. The rush for cash caught some venues and operators by surprise and 23 per cent of Next Payments ATMs ran out of cash in New Zealand in the last week.

Debt buyer Pioneer Credit has appointed Jason Musca as its new chief financial officer. Musca is a chartered accountant, whose CV includes senior roles at Bankwest and Commonwealth Bank, where he was division CFO for both the retail and business banks. He replaces Leslie Crockett who departed suddenly last month, in the midst of the company’s abortive merger with Carlyle Group.
