Briefs: PwC appoints financial services leader, Afterpay extends US service, new MyState director

25 June 2021 6:07AM
PwC has appointed Tom Gunson as financial services leader for Australia across the firm’s consulting, assurance and financial advisory businesses. He takes over from Julie Coates, who is taking on the role of business markets leader. Gunson has been a partner at PwC since 2014 and was the lead relationship partner for one of the firm’s biggest financial services clients.

Afterpay has extended its buy now pay later service in the United States, with the introduction of a “one-time” card in the Afterpay app to facilitate in-store purchases at selected merchants. Payment details are automatically populated at the checkout and the usual Afterpay payment conditions apply. Merchants participating in the program include Amazon, Dell, Macy’s, Nike, Sephora, Target and Victoria’s Secret.

Former chief executive of Hydro Tasmania, Stephen Davy, has joined the board of MyState Ltd as a non-executive director. Davy has a background in banking, starting his career at Macquarie Bank and holding executive roles at Bankers Trust and Société Générale. His appointment is effective from July 1.
