Briefs: Miner joins Westpac board, McMillan Shakespeare appoints CFO, RBNZ extends deferral rules

18 August 2020 6:20AM
Former Rio Tinto chief financial officer Chris Lynch has joined the Westpac board. Lynch has also held senior executive positions at BHP and he was chief executive of the toll road company Transurban. His appointment is effective September 1. Fleet management, salary packaging and asset finance company McMillan Shakespeare has appointed Ashley Conn as its chief financial officer. He replaces retiring CFO Mark Blackburn. Conn is the former CFO of CSG Ltd, which was recently acquired by Fuji Xerox. He has also had roles at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, ABN Amro and Arthur Andersen. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has extended the regulatory guidance for the mortgage deferrals programme (due to expire on 27 September) meaning banks can continue to offer temporary mortgage deferrals to their customers after that date without those loans being viewed as being in default. The extension takes effect from when the existing guidance expires and will apply until 31 March 2021.
