Briefs: Frazis was warned, new AP CIO

07 December 2022 6:04AM
Bank of Queensland executive chair Patrick Allaway made it clear yesterday that former chief executive George Frazis, who was sacked last week, was given opportunities to fix his leadership style before the axe fell. Speaking at the bank’s annual general, Allaway said: “While we respect and acknowledge the contribution that George Frazis has made over his three years with BOQ, the board reached a conclusion that we need a different capability and leadership style to build a simpler and more resilient bank. Our expectations in respect of this were made clear to George over a period of time.” Allaway will run the bank until a new CEO is found. Australian Payments Plus has hired former Ernst & Young partner May Lam as its chief information officer. Lam was EY’s Asia Pacific payment leader and Oceania fintech leader, as well as partner in the financial services consulting practice. Before working at EY she was chief customer officer at payments software company mx51.
