Westpac close to announcing $70 million media deal

21 September 2011 3:22PM
Westpac is poised to announce the new supplier of its A$70 million media services contract, with MediaCom tipped to be securing the deal. The bank announced in July that it would be reviewing its media account and issued a closed tender. The current media services supplier, OMD, was invited to participate but it is believed that OMD has now dropped out of the race. The tender has been contested by MediaCom, OMD, Aegis Media and UM.Last week Westpac confirmed that  Aegis, including any business within the Aegis Group, had independently withdrawn from the media buying pitch process. Industry speculation has also suggested that UM is also no longer being considered. OMD has held the account since 2009. It involves includes handling Westpac's multi-brand strategy including media strategy, planning and trading services.
