Suncorp quits rural New South Wales
Over the coming month Suncorp will close retail bank branches in Bendigo, Goulburn, Taree, Albury, Wagga and Dubbo. A spokesperson for the bank said all the sites were originally GIO offices and "were not great sites".The group will have a net increase in branches during the current financial year, with 12 new branches opening across Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria. A Suncorp branch will open on Collins Street Melbourne in two weeks.Ten new branches are planned for the 2008-09 financial year and another 10 for the following year."The tide is not turning on the branch expansion strategy," the spokesperson said.Agribusiness and insurance services will be maintained in the six New South Wales towns affected by the branch closures.
