Qantas CU commissions a new core

16 September 2015 3:41PM
Qantas Credit Union has contracted with Infosys Finacle to replace its core banking system and build a number of new front-end platforms.QCU announced that it expects to have the new core banking system up and running by mid to late 2017. In the meantime several other projects are underway. The first change that customers will see is a new mobile banking system that will go live around November.QCU has 95,000 members and around A$3 billion of assets.QCU chief financial officer Michael Anastasi said the area where the organisation had been left behind was in digital services.Anastasi said: "Anything you can do in a branch you should be able to do online. We are not in that position now."At the moment members can open a savings account online, pay bills and do transfers. We want to take it to the next level."Anastasi said the upgrade would also allow QCU to introduce new products. It has its eye on a youth account."We are looking at a digital wallet and peer-to-peer payments," he said."We are also looking to this projects to enhance back office efficiencies, reducing application times for credit cards, home loans and personal loans."
