Platinum fee on Qantas Citi card

06 June 2017 3:53PM
Qantas has launched its first sole-branded credit card targeted at platinum card users.A new website (www.qantasmoney.com.au) marketing the Qantas Premier Mastercard went live on Monday night. With a 19.99 per cent rate on purchases, the Premier card is priced more or less in line with platinum cards offered by the major banks.Citi, which markets its house-branded platinum card at 20.99 per cent, is the credit provider and issuer of the new Qantas product. While Qantas' rate on purchases is competitive, the card carries a hefty A$299 annual fee.The fee will be reduced to $149 in the first year if cardholders spend more than $3000 within 90 days of taking up a balance transfer offer.A Qantas spokesperson said the airline's other financial services partnerships would be unaffected by the Citi deal, including the arrangement with Heritage Bank to issue the Qantas Cash card.
