Paymark soldiers on amid buyer disinterest

01 May 2017 3:48PM
Paymark, New Zealand's principal Eftpos network, has engineered a "stay in business" shift of its primary telecom services provider to Transaction Network Services, replacing Spark New Zealand. Under a services agreement, already in place, TNS "will enable Paymark to extend support for its dial up service to merchants in New Zealand by another three years, with the option to extend well into the future," Paymark and TNS said today. Paymark is the leading Eftpos processor in New Zealand and handles 75 per cent of all card transactions in the country. Put up for sale in early 2016 by New Zealand's (and Australia's) four major banks, scant news has emerged since then on the sales process or a probable bidder. Cameron Partners is steering the sales process for the banks.
