NAB puts travel card on internet banking platform

18 September 2014 4:01PM
National Australia Bank has upgraded its travel card, linking it to the bank's internet banking platform so that customers will be able manage the account during an internet banking session or using a mobile app.NAB claims to be the first bank to put a travel card on its main internet banking platform. The usual process is that travel card users have to log into a separate site and load cash into their cards using BPay.A bank spokesperson said the cumbersome log-in and the waiting time involved in BPay transfers were the main customer complaints about travel cards. Now customers will be able to check balances on their travel cards in the same way they check the balance of a transaction or credit account and they will be able to load cash in real time by doing a transfer between accounts. The upgrade went live in June and the bank has been bedding it down over the past couple of months. The feedback the bank has received is that it is easier to manage the travel card account while travelling. To promote the service the bank has dropped the NAB Traveller Card one per cent initial load fee.Customers can transfer unused cash out of their travel cards when they have finished travelling but keep the account open for future use.
