MyState beefs up branches and broker network

11 November 2016 5:05PM
MyState is strengthening its branch network and its broker distribution. The banking and wealth management group has appointed new managers to all ten branches in its home state of Tasmania, where it has 105,000 banking customers.MyState chief executive Melos Sulicich said in a statement that the closure of branches by some competitors presented an opportunity to take leadership in community banking. "We want our customers to enjoy all the benefits of technology and self-service banking but we also want them to have an exceptional experience when they come to our branches for human interaction or advice," Sulicich said.He said branch managers would have lending responsibility and local accountability. Each manager would develop a local area action plan.MyState has also appointed Paul Herbert to head its broker channel. Herbert has been chief executive of MyState's Queensland banking subsidiary The Rock for the past two years and will continue in that role as well.MyState has doubled the number of its broker relationship managers.A focus on brokers has helped it expand outside Tasmania. It has around 40 per cent of its loan book outside the state.
