Mt.Gox shy of Technocash

06 June 2013 4:48PM
Sydney funds' transfer company Technocash has found one of its key counter-parties is wary of continued dealings with the firm less than a week after US authorities listed some Technocash bank accounts in a list of "forfeitable property" linked to seven men charged in connection with money-laundering claims. These relate to Costa Rican-based Liberty Reserve. Mt.Gox, a Bitcoin exchange based in Japan, advised users overnight that "after some deliberation and discussion with Technocash, an Australian service for Mt.Gox customer account funding and withdrawals, it has been decided that our customers in Australia will no longer be able to deposit and withdraw funds in AUD using Technocash, starting 15 June 2013." Mt.Gox said that "withdrawals via Technocash will be processed as long as we possibly can, and we will make our best efforts to keep this method available."In September 2011, Mt.Gox said that its "National Australia Bank account and the Bankwest account" were closed by Technocash at the two banks' discretion.Bankwest has since clarified through its media spokesperson that claims it "closed Technocash accounts in 2011… [are] incorrect."
