Curran unveils the Single Customer Service Hub

08 September 2015 3:55PM
The focus of Westpac's IT work over the next year or two will be a project called the Single Customer Service Hub.The hub will be a single customer identifier at the core of the bank's system, giving the bank a single customer view across all product categories and group brands.Westpac chief information officer Dave Curran said: "In our world today we have a number of customer interface channels. Our different brands have different solutions."There is duplication. The information in those channels should go across the bank. We are going to consolidate our infrastructure."The implementation of the hub will begin with the mortgage and wealth businesses and then move on to encompass everyday banking and other products. For example, the bank will have a single mortgage origination platform for all its brands. Curran said: "With a single customer view we can have relationship based risk assessment, pricing and service."It will make the customer the "architectural focal point" of the bank, aligning the bank's technology architecture with its service strategy.Curran said the bank would be making greater use of cloud services and software modularisation to avoid the need for a big core system overhaul.
