CUA terminates credit card relationship with Citibank

13 April 2016 3:43PM
CUA is winding up its white label credit card arrangement with Citibank and plans to launch its own credit card.A CUA spokesperson confirmed that the mutual's card business was in "transition", which means that cardholders can use their cards as usual but customers cannot apply for a new card.Under the white label agreement, Citibank "owns" the card relationship and is likely to offer the option of a switch to a new Citibank card.CUA's decision to launch an on-balance sheet card is part of a plan to improve customer service. Its credit cards cannot currently be linked to other customer products. The group switched to a new core banking system in 2013 and has been progressively upgrading products and services since then.CUA's plan is to have a new credit card in the market before the end of the financial year.
