CUA partners with Cuscal to re-launch credit cards

18 August 2016 4:10PM
CUA has re-launched its credit card range, switching from a white label arrangement with Citibank to a partnership with Cuscal. The CUA Platinum Credit Card and the CUA Low Rate Credit Card are run off Cuscal's Cadency card management system.Under its Citibank agreement the card balances were on Citi's balance sheet but under the new partnership the balances are on CUA's balance sheet.CUA head of cards Amanda Muir said that under the old arrangement CUA's frontline staff would have to hand customers off to Citi to deal with card issues.Muir said: "Credit cards are important products, main bank relationship products. We had to change the way we operated so we could take control of that relationship."Cuscal's Cadency system is integrated with CUA's core, giving frontline staff "full visibility" of credit card accounts. Customers can now get access through their mobile banking app.The CUA deal is Cuscal's first deployment of the Cadency system, a proven piece of technology developed by the US company Trintech and used by a number of banks around the world.Muir said CUA designed what it hoped would be seen as good value cards. The low rate card has an 11.99 per cent interest rate on purchases with up to 55 days interest free. The annual fee of $49 is waived in the first year and CUA is offering a zero rate balance transfer for 13 months.Platinum card users have access to CUA's Life Rich Rewards program, which has a heavy emphasis on retail gift cards.
