CBA TAKES TOKEN APPROACH TO INTERNET SECURITY
The Australian reported that Commonwealth Bank settled on a mix of SMS and tokens as the bank's preferred mechanism for "two factor authentication" of some internet banking transactions. The newspaper reported that bank staff will test the methods in December and the bank will roll out the secondary passwords to customers early next year. The bank will require that customers using internet banking services enter the second, and one-off password, to authorise third-party payments."The volume of phishing is increasing. There's no doubt, it's high at the moment relative to what is used to be," the newspaper quoted Marcus Judge, the bank's general manager of e-commerce as saying.
