CBA mixes it with the tech heads
Commonwealth Bank is so confident of its technological prowess it has become the first banking partner for a Cebit computing conference, which is on this week in Sydney. The bank is one of more than 450 exhibitors from 16 countries at the exhibition, which is expected to attract 30,000 visitors from around the region. CBA is the only financial institution participating in the event. With a large centrally located stand, the bank is using Cebit to demonstrate the data analytics capability of its recently released Daily IQ app.It also set up a "pop up bank" (built in a shipping container, complete with ATM and two rather under-utilised tellers) in the forecourt of the exhibition and is running a two day software development competition with $30,000 in prizes up for grabs. For its sponsorship dollars the bank has also secured a prized keynote address slot today for Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, group executive of institutional banking and markets, while CBA speakers dominate the finance and payments stream of the Cebit Campus workshop program.
