CBA appoints group general counsel from Suncorp

22 June 2016 4:19PM
Anna Lenahan, Suncorp's chief risk officer, will cross to Commonwealth Bank as group general counsel and group executive corporate affairs. At Suncorp, she was chief risk and legal officer for just four months, under a revamped leadership structure announced in February by group CEO Michael Cameron. Lenahan (photo source: Chief Executive Women website) had, however, held a similarly titled role for most of the previous five years, since joining Suncorp.David Cohen, the former group general counsel at CBA is now its chief risk officer, following the retirement of Alden Toevs.Lenahan walks into a portfolio with an animated workload thanks to reputation challenges around financial planning and Bankwest in the past, and a possible future royal commission into bank behaviour hanging over CBA.She was a partner at Allens Linklaters in the past and has been a crown prosecutor in Perth's Department of Public Prosecutions.Anna Lenahan is one of several senior executives at Suncorp to move on in recent times.Suncorp Bank chief executive John Nesbitt, who added wealth management to his role in March, announced his retirement last week and will leave the bank by the end of the year. Another of Suncorp's executive team, the group's former chief information officer Matt Pancino, left in April, also headed for CBA.
