Cabcharge will reorganise in Victoria

21 November 2013 5:33PM
Cabcharge is to reorganise its business model in Victoria, but is being cagey about the details.Reg Kermode, executive chair of Cabcharge, told the annual meeting yesterday that it would make changes in a manner "necessary… to ensure our operations provide a sufficient return."The Victorian Government is to force through a cut in the service fee for card payments, reducing them from 10 per cent to five per cent. At present, Cabcharge applies a 10 per cent service fee on bank payment card and credit and charge card payments.Kermode acknowledged that these changes "will impact our business".He said that "one important area of discussion will be to ensure the same rules apply to all providers, including booking and payment apps."Kermode said that some new entrants were "touting service fees lower than Cabcharge [but] have additional charges that can bring the total fee up to around 13.5 per cent of the fare."
