Briefs: Bankwest launches rate tracker hybrid, local Islamic finance executive joins RFI Foundation

21 December 2016 5:25PM
Bankwest has launched a new loan, which offers a discount to the average of the standard variable rates offered by ANZ, National Australia Bank and Westpac. The discount on the Equaliser Home Loan is 135 basis points for three years for owner-occupiers and 100 bps for three years for investors. The loan has a floor rate of 2.5 per cent. "Brokers and our customers are telling us there's demand for a simple loan that offers competitive rates that align consistently with the major banks," said Bankwest general manager, broker sales, Stewart Saunders. The managing director of superannuation fund Crescent Wealth, Talal Yassine, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Responsible Finance and Investment Foundation. The RFI Foundation is a global organisation established after the financial crisis with the aim of introducing Islamic and broader ethical principles into the financial system. Yassine is also an adjunct professor at the University of Western Sydney Business School. He has served on the boards of Australia Post, Sydney Ports and the Council of Australian Arab Relations.
