Brief: From Red Shed to TSB

05 July 2018 3:57PM
•    New Zealand bank TSB has hired the head of a former discount retailer's short-lived financial services unit as its new CEO. Donna Cooper ran the financial services unit of NSX-listed Warehouse Group (nicknamed the Red Shed) which offered credit cards, insurance and pre-paid mobile phones from March until July last year, when it was sold to SBS Bank.  She will now replace long-serving CEO TSB Kevin Murphy. TSB chair John Kelly said Cooper would enable the bank "to benefit from a fresh perspective at a time when the spotlight is on banks to put customer interests first". Cooper's previous experience includes heading Baycorp NZ and senior roles with American Express in Europe, Australia, India and New Zealand.
