Aussie stops offering credit cards

02 September 2014 3:53PM
Aussie Home Loans has stopped offering credit cards. A notice appeared on the company's website on August 14 saying it no longer offered the Aussie Classic Low Rate MasterCard and Aussie Platinum Low Rate MasterCard to new customers.Comparison website operators Mozo and Canstar confirmed that Aussie credit card details were withdrawn from their sites before the August 14 announcement.Aussie did not respond to a request for comment on the decision. A spokesperson for Mozo said the company had not received any information about the reason for the withdrawal.Canstar research manager Mitchell Watson said it was an isolated change, rather than part of a wider move out of the low-growth credit card market.Watson said the credit card market has been active this year, with the new Coles card, more competitive balance transfer offers and upgrades to a number of rewards programs.
