Aussie CEO quits

14 August 2014 4:17PM
Aussie Home Loans chief executive Ian Corfield has quit the job after just one year. Aussie executive director James Symond told The Adviser that Corfield had decided to return to the United Kingdom to be close to his family.Corfield came across from Bankwest to replace Stephen Porges, who headed the company from 2008 to April last year.Porges' departure coincided with Commonwealth Bank's move to increase its share in Aussie.Aussie chairman John Symond told the Australian Financial Review at the time that the business needed a CEO with a different skill set to take it to the next stage of its development.Recent indications suggest that the Aussie business has been going well. In November the company said it had written a record A$2.1 million of loans for the month and announced plans to expand by as many as 200 branches.
