ATM cashiered in quick time at CBA

22 November 2011 5:26PM
Commonwealth Bank will replace most of its fleet of automatic teller machines, the bank said yesterday. A pilot of preferred machines is underway and the replacement programme will commence in the second quarter of 2012. The average age of the existing fleet of 4100 ATMs is four years. The bank said it will allow "real time" value for deposits of cash and even cheques made at the ATM. Any conditions around this "real time" claim are not yet clear. The bank said it had selected two models from Wincor Nixdorf (known as Cineo and Procash), with both coming in hole-in-the-wall and lobby styles.Linfox Armaguard will help manage the project. The latter is a potential operator of ATMs in its own right. It is the main party in talks with ASX-listed Customers Limited over a possible bid for that company.
