APRA checking liquidity of small ADIs

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority may have asked some regulated entities to increase their liquid assets from 13 per cent to 15 per cent of total assets.The Australian reported that APRA contacted Teachers Credit Union in Sydney, which told the newspaper it has liquidity levels of around 20 per cent.Data on aggregate credit union and building society financials published by APRA for the June 2008 quarter suggests small deposit-taking institutions had liquid assets of more than 17 per cent.
