Appointments: Rubin takes board seat at National Wealth Management, FSU's Carter for Services Leader

Elana Rubin, who recently gave up her position as the chair of AustralianSuper, has joined the board of National Wealth Management Holdings, which is the holding company for National Australia Bank's wealth management businesses. Rubin is a director of the Mirvac Group and of PPB Advisory. She is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, of the Australian Institute of Management and of Finsia. Leon Carter, the national secretary of the Finance Sector Union, has been appointed deputy chair of the Services Leaders Group, a government consultation body involving businesses, unions and researchers in the services sector. Andrew Stevens, the managing director of IBM Australia and New Zealand, is the chair. The SLG will advise the government on innovation, productivity and international engagement. Pepper Homeloans is building up the retail lending side of its business and has appointed Richard Socratous to the new position of national sales manager. Socratous has been in the mortgage industry for 22 years. The Wall Street Journal reports that Citigroup has created a new chief operating officer role in Australia and New Zealand to bolster its corporate and investment banking businesses. Josephine Majewski will move from Barclays, where she has been Australian COO for the past two years, to take up the role.
