ANZ ahead of system

ANZ and National Australia Bank have had the best of the sector's financial year on the home lending front, with both reporting growth comfortably ahead of system.Australian Prudential Regulation Authority monthly data shows ANZ reported growth in home loans of 7.5 per cent for the year to August 2014, the best of any major bank. NAB reported growth of 7.3 per cent.System credit growth in home loans, for all banks, was 6.6 per cent. Macquarie remains the one bank to produce stellar growth in home loans, up 35 per cent in a year.
 Suncorp is one laggard among banks, with 12-month growth of only 3.8 per cent, and a shrinking mortgage book recently.
