Personal loans, overdrafts sour for NAB; housing ok

Delinquencies are on the rise in two lending categories at National, with the proportion of personal loans more than 90 days past due rising from about 2.1 per cent in September 2002 to about 2.2 per cent in December 2002. APRA bank statistics 11 months old

APRA resumed publication of banking and other statistics across the sector yesterday via the regulator's periodic bulletin, Insight. For banks, the statistics no longer cover each institution by name, but slice and dice features of banks' businesses aggregated into major banks (APRA counts five major banks), other domestic banks, locally incorporated banks and foreign bank branches. read more
