Whitfield first hire in CBA board shuffle

Rob Whitfield, the former head of Westpac Institutional Bank, will be a nominee for the board of Commonwealth Bank, the Financial Review reports.CBA will also tell investors that three directors will step down in total, two at the AGM and the third in 12 months' time, the newspaper's Street Talk column reports. read more

Getting 'Royal Commission ready' may be one motive behind ANZ's hiring of Tony Warren from Telstra as the bank's group general manager, communications and public affairs.Warren, a regulatory economics wonk, has held the corresponding job at Telstra since 2013 where, since 2007, he's carried some of the load for the telco's intricate (and commercially fruitful) dealings with the federal government over the National Broadband Network. read more

Eftpos chiefs go mobile

The chief executive and one of his key lieutenants at Eftpos Payments are moving on to other ventures. Bruce Mansfield announced his departure yesterday after seven years at the helm of Eftpos Payments Australia Limited.Mansfield will leave on 31 August. David Heine, the chief financial officer, left EPAL recently as well. Heine will start work as CEO for the Cardtronics ATM business in Melbourne from November. read more
