New card offers in time for Christmas, holidays

With the shopping and holiday seasons coming up, credit card issuers are launching new product to entice consumers. American Express, Commonwealth Bank and Macquarie Bank launched new cards last month.CBA gets the gong for originality, offering a Limited Edition Cricket card, which ties in with its sponsorship of the Australian cricket team.According to comparison site Mozo, the new CBA card has the same features as its Low Rate Card but with a A$250 cashback offer for consumers who spend at least $500 before the end of January next year.Amex has launched the Essential Credit Card, offering a zero rate on balance transfers for 12 months, a 14.99 per cent purchase rate, no annual fee and a $50 credit for consumers who send a minimum of $500 in the first two months.The card's rewards program offers one-for-one points on everyday spend and the option of transferring the points to any of eight airline programs.Macquarie Bank has launched a Black Card, offering a zero rate on balance transfers for 14 months, a $99 first year annual fee and a bonus 60,000 reward points or 40,000 Qantas points for consumers who spend $3000 within 60 days of approval.
