Brokers doing better

Fees paid to home loan brokers by Adelaide Bank edged higher over the last year, from about 0.6 per cent of average loans to about 0.65 per cent. Not many banks disclose this statistic, and it is an important indicator of how banks are giving up some of the value to intermediaries.

Some of Adelaide's originator network may need to try harder. Adelaide is known to pay up front commissions of 0.88 per cent to some brokers; the highest of any bank lender based on commission schedules seen by The Sheet.
