There will be no stored value component to the Victorian Taxi Directorate's tender for the supply of 300, 000 smart cards, which will be used to administer the concecession scheme on taxi transport.

 Jeff Dalman, from the directorate, said the card was primarily an ID card, but would contain volatile data to indicate whether the card was enabled or not, and for the cab driver's PIN. But in an FAQ distributed to prospective tenders, he said the card would not have a stored value.
