The Reserve Bank of Australia may extend the reach of its intervention in the cards payment market to the fuel card sector, with the bank's Payments System Board foreshadowing steps to negate the affect of so called no surcharge rules on the purchasing cards issued by the major petrol companies and the independent fuel card provider, Motorcharge.
In its annual report, the Payments System Board wrote that it was "clarifying" the effect of restrictions similar to no surcharge rules applied to purchasing cards.
