Briefs: Euro banks hold Asian bank stakes and NAB picks European director
12 October 2012 6:41am
  • European banks are resisting pressure to sell their stakes in listed Asian banks, the Financial Times reported.  The FT said the banks with the biggest stakes in Asian financial groups – BBVA, BNP Paribas, Caixabank, Deutsche Bank and Santander – are not selling their minority holdings in banks such as Bank of East Asia, Shinsei Bank, China Citic Bank, Bank of Nanjing and Hua Xia Bank.
  • Clydesdale Bank has appointed Jim Pettigrew as a non-executive director. Pettigrew will also join the board of National Australia Group Europe and will chair both boards’ audit committees. Pettigrew was, until recently, chief executive of CMC Markets.
